Fine by me.

[Raoul burns in the back of his mind, cackling. His sharp grin is mirrored by Ren, eyes ablaze. He's so ready to beat Akechi into the ground. This duel... thanks to the date, Ren had some feelings that bubbled to the surface, this morning, and the only cure is to fight Akechi about it. They talked about it, but it didn't soothe the burn in his soul. He's going to show Akechi exactly why he should never fucking leave Ren hanging like that. Ever again.

He takes a battle stance, his dagger held loosely but surely in his hand.]

Ready when you are.

[A feral smirk unfurls beneath his pointed mask, and he reaches up, rips that mask away, and—]

Hereward!

[The Persona materializes in triumphant, blue light, but rather than attack, he launches Debilitate.]

[With Raoul at the forefront of his mind, all his auto-skills raising his abilities, all Hereward's Debilitate manages to do is reset him to neutral. Not ideal, but not so unexpected that Ren wasn't prepared for it. Raoul's job done, he reaches for another mask, another Persona.]

Attis! [he calls out, his mask disappearing as she blazes into existence- a Debilitate of his own once again putting Akechi at a disadvantage.

Two can play at this game.]

[Damn it. Then again, he should have expected this. An even match, since it's not as though Debilitate can stack, but if he uses a Dekunda or Heat Riser on himself, that'll be troublesome.

Still, despite the brief flash of wide eyes beneath those red lenses, he slips back into a more composed state in the blink of an eye.

Well, no sense in holding back.

With a low grunt of laughter, he charges forward, and Hereward unleashes Rebellion Blade!]

[Ren dashes to get out of the way of the Rebellion Blade- but he's not quite fast enough to dodge it fully, grunting as the almighty magic grazes him with a burn. It's one of the few things he can't totally avoid damage from, but he's not bothered. With the Debilitate, the attack wouldn't have hurt as much anyway. This is just the beginning, after all.]

That all you got? [he taunts, swapping his mask as easily as breathing. Mara roars into existence, the rather... impressive Persona writhing in its chariot as he invokes a Concentrate.]

Mara. Really?

[He growls, rolling his eyes, but rather than attack right away, he slips into a defensive stance.

No sense in taking chances. Even if the St. Hermelin ring protects him from his one weakness, who knows what Ren has in mind?]

What? [Ren laughs,] Not a fan? Allow me to change, and protect poor Crow's sensitive mind, in that case.

[Mara fades, and Black Frost hee-ho's into existence, the cartoonishly downturned red eyes shimmering. Akechi may be defending, but he'll certainly feel this Concentrate-boosted Diamond Dust.]

[Oh, he feels it, all right. Blistering cold smothers him, but thanks to Fortify Spirit and sheer dumb luck, he avoids the freeze.

But that's a frustrating predicament. Even with the Debilitate and his defensive stance, that's a rather potent hit.

So does he heal with an item, or does he keep up the offense?

Damn it. Ren can heal regardless!

Well. Better strike hard and fast. Make him drain his SP.

Akechi rushes in with another Rebellion Blade!]

[Ren had quietly hoped for a freeze, but when Akechi rushes in, undaunted, he's forced into a defensive stance, grunting as the Rebellion Blade hits him head on. The power lances through him, but he, too, is undaunted. It's just one hit, and Ren- well. It's gonna take more than that to take him down... but he could use a little boost.

With a grin, he calls back for Attis, and gives himself said boost with Thermopylae.]

[Akechi sneers, but you know what? Have another Debilitate.]

I won't let you get off so easily.

Oh yeah?

[With a flick of his mask, Mara reappears, and he casts Charge.]

[Damn it. Time for another guard, and another grimace because of that stupid, giant dick.]

[Too bad! That's a free Concentrate for Ren! Any attack he'll send Akechi's way is going to hurt.]

[Damn it. And he can't just debilitate either...

He stays guarded, glowering.]

Well, if you're just going to stand there...

[Attis comes out once more, Thermopylae washing over him, and Ren's grin sharpens. He holds out his hand, curling it in a taunting come at me gesture. Regardless what Akechi does, be that Debilitate to try and smother his raised stats, try and attack Ren to gain the upper hand, or guard some more to reduce any incoming damage... Ren's next attack is going to be devastating.

That's what you get for just letting him set up in your face, Akechi!]

[Damn it all. He's a sitting duck, no matter what he does.

Screw it. Rebellion Blade it is. He might as well at least try to land a hit.]

[And Ren grins, everything in his expression sharp, rushing forwards to meet Akechi's attack head-on. With a mere thought, Metatron comes to the forefront of his mind, catching the Rebellion Blade to lessen its impact- it still hurts, but with the Thermopylae...]

Checkmate.

[Metatron lifts its hand, and a devastating Megidolaon flies Akechi's way.]

[The Megidolaon deals a devastating blow, knocking Akechi down on his hands and knees.

Grunting through his teeth, he rummages for something to heal with. A Soma... That ought to do it.]

I'm not through with you, Joker!

[Ren's grin sharpens.]

Good. Because I'm not done with you either, Crow.

[There's an intensity to his voice that Akechi may realize is less to do with his eagerness for the duel, and more with... something else. Regardless, he calls forth Maria- and casts Salvation on himself, destroying any progress Akechi had made damaging him.]

[Whatever. Whatever.

Debuffing will get him in a deadlock. Obviously, that's less than ideal, so with a feral howl, he screams:]

Laevateinn!

[If he can just get a critical hit...]

[The Laevateinn manages to land, but misses out on the crit, leaving Ren damaged, but standing. With Akechi this nearby...

His mask changes once more, and Yoshitsune appears, sword at the ready.]

Hassou Tobi.

[And, having seen Yoshitsune in action, Akechi should know exactly what a Charge boosted Hassou Tobi from this particular Yoshitsune is capable of.]

[Shit.

It comes way too fast, the volley of brutal attacks, knocking him down with a critical hit and bombarding him further.]

[And something about watching Akechi get pulverized so easily sparks something in Ren.

Something angry. Something... he doesn't know how to name. His fists clench.]

Is that all, Crow?

[He starts stepping forward, slowly at first.]

Is that seriously all you have? After everything? After trying to protect me from- yourself?

Get up.

[But then, his speed increases, teeth grit as he rushes forwards at Akechi. There's a blaze in his eyes, leaping with his dagger at the ready, aimed Akechi's way.]

Get up!

[Damn it all.

He hobbles back on his feet, despite the pain from all those slashes.]

Fine.

[Damn Ren and his tricks. So many Personas So many ways to outdo him.

It doesn't matter. Despite the wounds to his body, he sends Hereward out for another Rebellion Blade.

Any of his physical or gun skills would do him in, and downing another healing item would take too much time and leave him vulnerable.]

[The Rebellion Blade hits him headon, but with his buffed defenses, he takes it with a growl, slowed to a halt. No matter, Akechi's up again, and Ren's not done with him.]

Satanael!

[Dammit, dammit, how could he? How could he just assume Ren didn't want him in his life? That he'd be better off? That, even if it was temporary, he wouldn't want to know Akechi's alive? Or not tell him he was potentially dead until Maruki had to tell him to his face? For your own benefit- fuck that shit. Ren is so, so very done with people trying to 'protect' him without consulting him if he actually wants to be protected.

The date, their fight, it's all coming to the surface so quickly that Ren can't stop the anger from rising.]

Pillage him.

[Satanael obliges, and a wicked Wild Thunder crashes down.]
