[Ren, for his part, is dressed in his winter outfit as well. He's casually tapping away at his phone, an easygoing slouch in his stance, but despite that, there's something fierce in his eye that intensifies when Akechi arrives. He grins.]
There you are. You kept me waiting long enough, you know. [He holds up his phone, the navigator open.] Shall we, then?
[Ren's own outfit changes, and his entire posture alongside it. Complete with the domino mask, his trusty dagger and gun, and signature grin, Joker is the one staring back at Akechi. He spins the dagger in his hand, rolling his shoulders.]
So, Crow, [he hums,] ground rules- anything goes, first to get the other to yield or knock them out wins.
[It's not so much a question as a statement- Akechi will likely agree to those terms.]
[Raoul burns in the back of his mind, cackling. His sharp grin is mirrored by Ren, eyes ablaze. He's so ready to beat Akechi into the ground. This duel... thanks to the date, Ren had some feelings that bubbled to the surface, this morning, and the only cure is to fight Akechi about it. They talked about it, but it didn't soothe the burn in his soul. He's going to show Akechi exactly why he should never fucking leave Ren hanging like that. Ever again.
He takes a battle stance, his dagger held loosely but surely in his hand.]
[With Raoul at the forefront of his mind, all his auto-skills raising his abilities, all Hereward's Debilitate manages to do is reset him to neutral. Not ideal, but not so unexpected that Ren wasn't prepared for it. Raoul's job done, he reaches for another mask, another Persona.]
Attis! [he calls out, his mask disappearing as she blazes into existence- a Debilitate of his own once again putting Akechi at a disadvantage.
[Damn it. Then again, he should have expected this. An even match, since it's not as though Debilitate can stack, but if he uses a Dekunda or Heat Riser on himself, that'll be troublesome.
Still, despite the brief flash of wide eyes beneath those red lenses, he slips back into a more composed state in the blink of an eye.
Well, no sense in holding back.
With a low grunt of laughter, he charges forward, and Hereward unleashes Rebellion Blade!]
[Ren dashes to get out of the way of the Rebellion Blade- but he's not quite fast enough to dodge it fully, grunting as the almighty magic grazes him with a burn. It's one of the few things he can't totally avoid damage from, but he's not bothered. With the Debilitate, the attack wouldn't have hurt as much anyway. This is just the beginning, after all.]
That all you got? [he taunts, swapping his mask as easily as breathing. Mara roars into existence, the rather... impressive Persona writhing in its chariot as he invokes a Concentrate.]
What? [Ren laughs,] Not a fan? Allow me to change, and protect poor Crow's sensitive mind, in that case.
[Mara fades, and Black Frost hee-ho's into existence, the cartoonishly downturned red eyes shimmering. Akechi may be defending, but he'll certainly feel this Concentrate-boosted Diamond Dust.]
Ren has been gearing up for this all week. A box of home-made chocolates, a bouquet of anemones, carnations, and traditional red roses arranged tastefully into a harmonious, colorful piece of art (if he does day so himself), as well as a nice, if still somewhat casual outfit, he's ready to sweep Akechi off his feet. While they didn't agree to anything formally, it is valentines day...
Akechi has been scheming too. After all, a relationship is just a new battleground for them. He may have lost the duel, but there are other ways to triumph.
Ohohoho, well now, prince charming, I look forward towards whatever secret weapon you have at your disposal... and will be more than ready to counter >:)
See you at 4~
And indeed, by the time 4pm rolls around, Ren is idling by the entrance of the Skytree, bouquet and giftbox full of chocolates in hand. He's trying to look casual, but he still glances around every so often to see if Goro's arrived yet...
Akechi comes strutting up in a finely tailored suit and tie, with not one, but two boxes of chocolate. One contains the handmade goods he prepared with Hamuko, and another radiates class with its fancy packaging and gourmet goods inside.
Oh, and he's put on his finest cologne. An important step in laying on the charm.
"Well, well. It would appear we've both procured gifts for one another..."
Compared to Goro, Ren didn't bother with any suits. Not his style- at least, not like that. He's remarkably casually dressed, but somehow, it comes off just as sophisticated and fitting anyway. It suits him, alongside some of the fanciest perfume he owns. A little feminine perhaps, but he likes it, and he hopes Goro likes it, too. He's a little amused at just how dressed up Goro is, honestly... but it's nice. He clearly put in effort.
But Ren's no slouch either. He's wearing a single glove on the hand holding the bouqet- ordinarily, it'd look quite sloppy... but Goro's sure to recognize this one.
He still has the other half of the pair, after all.
"It is valentines," he hums, smiling. "Two boxes of chocolates, though? You're too sweet, darling."
Even on a date- god, he's having a valentines date with Goro- he can't help but teasingly flirt. Still, he settles down quickly, holding out his own duo of gifts.
Oh. That glove... That indeed catches his eye, and he stares for a moment. Ren wore the glove to their date.
They are having a date.
Well, no matter. He needs to keep his composure regardless, so he runs his free hand through his hair. "I like to go above and beyond. Why settle for just one, when I can bring hand-crafted and gourmet sweets?"
That's right, Ren. Hand-crafted.
He offers his own offerings in exchange for Rens. "But yes. This is a rather happy occasion, isn't it?"
That stuns Ren a little, his eyes widening ever so slightly- hand-crafted? That's not what he expected from Goro at all, and he's got to admit... he's a little touched.
"Hand-crafted, huh? Should I be worried there's poison in them?"
The words are teasing, but his smile is warm. He gratefully accepts both boxes, waiting to see how Goro reacts to his own gifts...
Intensive training. So someone helped him make those, hm? Ren laughs a little, but not in a mocking way. It's sweet.
"I'd hope it's more appealing than any previous gifts," he hums, "considering I made these chocolates with your tastes in mind..."
Oh yeah, Goro, these are hand-made as well. Did you expect anything else? Dark chocolate with coffee, milk chocolate with orange zest, and dark chocolate with seasalt... a mix of bitter, sweet, and salty (just like Goro himself, heh).
"I'm glad you like my gifts," he says warmly, smiling. "Thank you, too. These are very nice."
"Oh? Well then. I'm sure they'll make for a unique experience." He holds the bouquet delicately. Knowing Ren, he picked the flower arrangement himself, which gives it greater significance.
"I'm glad my gifts are to your liking as well." So... what next? Ren certainly has a plan, surely.
text on the morning of 2/2
Meet me at Shibuya station.
I think it's about time we made good on our deal yeah?

[With that, he makes his way over without a fuss, dressed in the same attire he wore that night. Scarf, coat... Everything perfectly in place.]

There you are. You kept me waiting long enough, you know. [He holds up his phone, the navigator open.] Shall we, then?
[He's eager, that much is clear.]

[He casually taps the MetaNav on his phone.]
Mementos.
[And, of course, their surroundings ripple all around them. Akechi's familiar black mask outfit materializes, saber and gun at the ready.]

So, Crow, [he hums,] ground rules- anything goes, first to get the other to yield or knock them out wins.
[It's not so much a question as a statement- Akechi will likely agree to those terms.]

[He gives his saber an idle flick.]
No cheap shots as well, I assume? That is to say, no attacks to the groin.

Hereward!
[The Persona materializes in triumphant, blue light, but rather than attack, he launches Debilitate.]

Two can play at this game.]

[He growls, rolling his eyes, but rather than attack right away, he slips into a defensive stance.
No sense in taking chances. Even if the St. Hermelin ring protects him from his one weakness, who knows what Ren has in mind?]

So, he shoots a text at Akechi.
Hey. Meet me at the skytree?
Got something for you ;)
no subject
Good to see Ren is rising to the challenge.
How funny. I have something for you as well.
When shall we meet?
no subject
How does around 4 sound?
no subject
That should give you ample time to mentally prepare yourself for my secret weapon.
The reality of it is, it gives Akechi time to mentally prepare, but shh. No one needs to know.

Tipping his chin up, he says, "I underwent intensive training to hone my skills in anticipation for this moment."
Once he's passed off the gifts, he carefully accepts Ren's. "Though I must confess, this is vastly more appealing than previous Valentine's gifts."
So many chocolates from classmates who barely knew him. This is personal. Touching, even. "Thank you."
